What Is Chiropractic Care?

At Complete Care Health Ellenbrook, your chiropractic care is comprehensive and looks at your body from head to toe. In addition to chiropractic adjustments, other forms of treatment that a chiropractor might utilise are soft and deep tissue massage, acupressure, dry needling, nutritional counselling, and tailored exercise programs.

Chiropractic is based on the idea that full health is complex and a number of factors; including diet, exercise, mental wellbeing, and musculoskeletal/spinal care. Considering all of them is imperative for optimal wellbeing.

Addressing a Range of Concerns With Graston Technique

Graston Technique is a therapy used by our chiropractors and physiotherapists to address scar tissue, adhesions, knots and muscle injuries.

How It Works

The instruments used in this technique allow for a deeper, more sensitive palpation and the handling of fibrotic restricted tissue. A coupling agent in the form of beeswax and Vaseline® compound is used between the Graston instrument and the skin.

The chiropractor or physiotherapist trained in Graston rubs the muscle across the fibre and begins breaking down knotty muscles, scarred tissue, fibrosed areas within pulled muscles. The six differently shaped Graston instruments allow for ease of treatment and maximum tissue penetration. The instrument is like a tuning fork, resonating in the clinician’s hands and allowing the clinician to isolate adhesions and restrictions, and deal with them precisely.

Dry Needling

Without resorting to drugs, you can relieve discomfort by stimulating your own pain relief system through dry needling. Similar to acupuncture, dry needling applies pressure to specific points in the muscle called trigger points.

Dry needling was used as early as 1979 when Dr Karel Lewit in Czechoslovakia was amongst the first to discover that it gave favourable results for musculoskeletal pain. Originally, hypodermic needles were used though it has changed to acupuncture needles to reduce the risk of bruising or haematoma. Today, dry needling is used throughout the world to improve dysfunction and pain levels.
